- If the root mass is loose, just hold it in both hands and gently
twist and wiggle till they pull apart. Don't hold by the fans,

- A large root ball should be hosed down to better see where it
should be divided
- You can divide a large plant in half by using a shovel down the
middle while still in the ground and leaving half there (there will be

- DON'T try to just remove a fan or two off the edge of a
daylily while it is still in the ground, you may just chop off the fans
from the roots. Instead remove it from the hole first to see what
